The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of Accra as it undertakes planned maintenance to improve electricity supply.
The exercise, set for Monday, May 25, will affect sections of the Accra East and Accra West operational areas.
Maintenance to improve stability
According to the power distributor, the planned works will begin at 9:00am and continue until 5:00pm, during which affected communities will experience temporary outages.
The company says the maintenance forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and long-term performance of the electricity distribution network.
Areas expected to be affected
In the Accra East Region, communities expected to experience outages include Katamanso, Regimanuel Estate, Dzorwulu Railway, ECG Quarters, and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in the Accra West Region, the exercise will impact Odawna, Ablekuma, Oblogo, Weija, Fanmilk, and adjoining communities.
Residents and businesses in these areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance.
Recent faults compound outages
The scheduled maintenance follows a series of technical faults over the weekend that disrupted power supply in parts of the capital and neighbouring areas.
Some communities in the Tema Region and Accra West experienced outages after faults affected the distribution network, prompting emergency intervention by engineers.
Assurance to customers
ECG has apologised for the inconvenience caused by both the planned maintenance and recent unexpected outages, assuring customers that steps are being taken to strengthen the system and prevent recurring disruptions.
The company also emphasised that such interventions are necessary to ensure a more stable and efficient power supply in the long term.
