NDC Directs Strict Control of Media Representation

The NDC has directed stricter control over who represents the party on media platforms, urging members to follow official communication structures to ensure message discipline.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a directive to enforce tighter control over its representation on media platforms, as part of efforts to manage its public messaging more effectively.

A statement from the party’s National Secretariat, dated May 23, 2026, announced that from Monday, party communication on media platforms will be handled strictly through designated structures.

Centralised communication strategy

According to the directive, all party members appearing on media panels must be approved through official communication channels, including regional communication officers and the national communications team.

The party cautioned that individuals who bypass these structures to represent the NDC risk facing consequences, stressing that any unauthorised appearance would be at the individual’s own risk.

Focus on party achievements

The statement also urged communicators to focus discussions on what it described as the party’s performance over the past 17 months, including ongoing internal reorganisation and efforts related to job creation and national development.

Party officials emphasised the need to highlight issues that reflect positively on the NDC, rather than allowing narratives that could undermine its messaging.

Warning against diversionary debates

The directive further cautioned party spokespeople against engaging in discussions that could draw attention away from criticisms of their political opponents.

It warned against being “lured” into topics that could shift pressure away from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging communicators to remain disciplined and consistent in their messaging.

Strengthening message discipline

The move is seen as part of a broader effort by the NDC to streamline its communication strategy ahead of heightened political activity, ensuring that its messaging remains coordinated across all platforms.
